Fairy Godparents

Fairy Godparents is a reciprocal game played for the duration of the conference.  Participants will secretly exchange names with other participants and spend the week doing things to make their Fairy Godchild feel special.

Unschoolers’ Gallery

The Unschoolers’ Gallery is a casual meeting place where people can gather for informal chats, to meet friends, or just relax.  We encourage everyone  to bring something that represents their unschooling life to display in the gallery (artwork, posters, pictures, etc. ).

Friendship Ambassadors

Looking for friendly outgoing people to be friendship ambassadors for the week. Friendship Ambassadors will wear pins in the conference center, and be available to talk, connect people, and make friends!  If you (and/or your kids) would like to be a UWG Friendship Ambassador, please email me at jessica.voigts@gmail.com and/or stop by the friendship ambassador table at monday registration from 2-5pm for your button.Thanks in advance for making UWG a friendlier place!

Family Fun Night

Join us for an evening of fun, interaction, games and entertainment.  We’ll have a giant Twister board, ice breakers, face painting, hair spray booth,  balloon animals,  a limbo contest, prizes and more! Come join the fun!

Mellow Mixer

For those desiring a quieter, gentler kick off to the week, we will be hosting a Mellow Mixer in the UWG gallery.  Come peruse some unschooler art, participate in the interest wall,  relax and chat with friends old and new.


Secret Society of Unschooling Dads (SSUDS)

The Secret Society of Unschooling Dads, or SSUDS, is a no-holds barred, safe place for men to ask questions, discuss concerns, proudly express breakthroughs and exchange ideas about their unschooling journey.

Henna Fun Night

Join us for an evening of Mehndi, the application of henna as a temporary form of skin decoration. Henna and temporary tattoos will be supplied.  Design suggestions will be available. To make it easier for parents with younger kids, our Kids’ Movie Night will be going on at the same time as Henna Fun Night in a connecting room, so kids and parents can easily stay in contact.

Kids’ Movie Night

We’ll be hosting two movies in the ballrooms.  The first will be a G or PG rated movie, geared towards the younger crowd, which will be followed by a PG or PG-13 movie.  Movies for 2017: Moana (first showing) and Kubo and the Two Strings (second showing)

Music Jams

EVERYONE: Please bring your musical instruments and talents to the Jam Session!  We’ll make sure you get your “time in the sun!” All ages and levels of musical talents are welcome.

Cosplay Day

Of course you can dress however you’d like during the entire conference, but we are dedicating a whole day to cosplay and encouraging everyone to bring a costume! Dress as your favorite manga, anime, comic book, cartoon, video game, live-action film or television series character for the day!

Kids’ Marketplace 

This is an opportunity for kids to set up their own marketplaces and refine their entrepreneurial skills.  No pre-registration is necessary.  Tables will be provided for children and youth.  Bring your wares and some change and we’ll provide the space.  Sorry, but no food sales will be allowed.

Talent Show

What a great opportunity for kids and parents to express their talents.  The talent show is an encouraging environment that fosters creativity, growth and community. All ages, all talents, ALL FUN!

Nerf Wars

Please join us for a Nerf Blaster Event!  We will be playing family friendly games like Capture the Flag and Last One Standing, where everyone will shoot and be shot.  Bring you favorite LABELED blaster(s). Safety glasses are required by all participants.  A limited number of safety glasses will be available for sale at the conference. All participants are expected to have a red and a blue shirt for team assignments.  All ammo will be supplied.  NO ammo will leave the playing area.  Hosted by Paxton Hodgson.

This is a question and answer panel geared toward parents, especially those new to unschooling.  Parents may ask questions related to unschooling and growing up as an unschooled child to the panel of teens.
